Why We Expanded Hotelio — From 6 to 20+ Features
What we learned running the platform inside a real hotel, what we changed, and what we are building next.
When Hotelio AI first launched, it had 6 features. Today it has 20+. That did not happen because we wanted to look more impressive. It happened because we ran the platform inside a real hotel and saw what was actually needed.
This post explains what we changed, why, and what we are still building.
What we started with
The first version of Hotelio AI covered the basics:
- Unified bookings (Booking.com, Airbnb, Webhotelier)
- Housekeeping automation
- Reviews management
- WhatsApp AI Concierge
- Voice AI (early version)
- Financial dashboard
It was a solid starting point. But as the platform ran at Sette Suites & Rooms — the 14-room boutique property that serves as our reference — the gaps started showing.
What we learned from running inside a hotel
Some things you do not see until you live them:
The phone matters more than you think. The early Voice AI worked, but it was not enough. We needed full VoIP integration — automatic call answering, support for 32 languages, handoff to reception. That became the AI VoIP Receptionist, the platform's hero feature.
Guests want self-service. Online check-in, digital keys, room information — without needing to call or ask. That created two new modules: Portal Link and Smart Locks.
Housekeeping and maintenance are not the same thing. The first version had one module for “housekeeping”. In practice, room cleaning and equipment maintenance are entirely different workflows, with different people and different logic. We split them into two: Housekeeping AI and Maintenance AI.
Reputation is built across many channels. Reviews alone are not enough. You need social media presence, competitor monitoring, guest profiling. That added three modules: Social Media AI, Competitor AI, and Guest Profiles AI.
Energy costs money. With IoT sensors already at Sette, we saw that BMS monitoring (temperature, humidity, consumption) is not a nice-to-have — it is real savings.
Every guest can buy something extra. Upselling (additional services, late checkout, transfers) and Coupons (return codes) generate revenue with no acquisition cost.

What we are building next
The list does not stop at 20+. One of the next modules we are preparing is Dynamic Pricing — automatic rate adjustments based on data the platform already collects (competitor rates, demand, booking history).
In a boutique hotel with 10-50 rooms, dynamic pricing does not work the way it does in a 500-room chain. That is why we are building a version that gives the owner data-driven suggestions — without taking away control.
What comes next
The platform is already live. We are accepting the first 10 pilot hotels in Greece. If you manage a boutique property and want AI-powered operations without enterprise costs, we would be glad to talk.
